Editorial
How we write this blog.
We make one of the apps we write about. That is exactly why the honesty has to be visible. Here is the standard we hold our content to.
No affiliate bias
We do not take affiliate commissions to rank other apps. When we compare tools, the order reflects what we think fits a real share house, not what pays us. It pays us nothing, because there is nothing to pay.
We name where rivals win
Every honest comparison says where the other app is better. Splitwise has far more users. Tricount is cleaner for travel splits. A good spreadsheet beats everything for the person who maintains it. We say so, in writing, even on our own pages.
We put ourselves under scrutiny
In our own comparison posts we deliberately rank Flatmate Flow below the incumbent and tell you to read our section with scepticism. If our claims do not hold up to your house, we would rather you know before you sign up.
Sources and first-party data
Where we cite a number, we link the source. Where the data is our own, we say it is ours and flag the sample size. We do not invent statistics, reviews or search volumes.
Dated and kept current
Every post shows a published date and, where relevant, an updated date. When the facts change (a competitor changes its pricing, for example) we update the post and the date, rather than leaving stale claims live.
Written by a named person
Posts carry a real byline. Most are written by the founder. See the author page for who is behind them.
Spotted something we got wrong? Tell us at admin@clearwayapps.com.au and we will fix it. More about the person behind the posts on the author page.
